In the race for all the EU member states to develop secure and interoperable digital identity solutions to comply with eIDAS 2.0, Germany is taking an innovative approach. Germany has created an innovation competition spearheaded by the Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation (SPRIN-D). In the project, called a 'Funke', 6 funded teams and 5 non-funded teams build their version of the most secure and usable identity wallet. The wallet needs to be compliant with EU regulation (guided by the Architecture Reference Framework and the German Architecture Concept) and needs to show interoperability with one of the Large Scale Pilots (specifically the Potential LSP). This competition project highlights how Germany is taking it very seriously to learn from technical implementors as well as real use cases.
One contender in the funded track is Animo Solutions, which is the company and team behind Paradym! Animo was selected for the Stage 1, and it has been announced this week that our solution is also continuing to Stage 2 of the EUDI Wallet Prototype Funke. Animo’s wallet prototype integrates seamlessly with the Paradym platform, showcasing the interoperability between Paradym and the EU standards and regulations. The wallet prototype is open-source and actually based on the Paradym Wallet.
