As a companion to the Paradym platform, our team maintains an open-source and free-to-use identity wallet, the Paradym wallet available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. We do this for multiple reasons:
- To enable end-to-end solutions. To work with verifiable credentials, even when building a solution to issue and/or verify them, you need a wallet to store the credentials. Whether to test the solution you're building with Paradym, or to provide your end-users with a wallet directly, we provide the Paradym wallet so your implementation can complete an end-to-end flow.
- Government wallets such as EUDI wallets (expected end of 2026) are not out yet, we provide the Paradym wallet because our Platform stays up to date with the newest standard and therefore you might need a wallet that supports these standards as well.
- It's not possible yet to freely integrate with platform provided wallets, such as the Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. Both support mobile Driving Licenses, but are not using OpenID4VC yet, and are not open for everyone to integrate with.
- Building your own identity wallet is complicated. We provide the Paradym wallet to give you a starting point to create your own customized identity wallet.
Our Paradym wallet always featured a very minimal UI, and was mostly used as a helpful tool instead of a long-term solution by end-users. This year however, the Paradym team got selected by German government agency SPRIND to build a prototype of the most complete, secure and user friendly EUDI wallet. The EUDI Prototype Wallet supports the newest standards, focused way more on UX, and features innovative and experimental features.
Now that the EUDI Prototype Wallet development has stabilized, we've updated our Paradym wallet to contain most of the work we've built into our EUDI Prototype Wallet. This means the new Paradym Wallet is both completely compatible with the Paradym platform (for example it supports both AnonCreds and SD-JWT VCs), AND supports all EUDI features in a way the wallet didn't before. The new update also comes with a completely updated UI and UX, which is much more extensive than the earlier version of the wallet.
Paradym Wallet users now benefit from all the Wallet research and innovation work done by the Paradym team in the past year.
