The eID standards defined in Switzerland are similar to the European Digital Identity standards defined in the Architecture Reference Framework with some small variations.

The Swiss Government is on track to start issuing the e-ID to citizens in 2026 to the swiyu Identity Wallet.

Note on the supported versions for OpenID for Verifiable Credentials

The Swiss eID is using older draft versions of the OpenID for Verifiable Credentials specifications. Paradym supports both these older draft versions of the specifications, and the new stable 1.0 versions. Once the Swiyu technical stack will update, you can easily upgrade your Paradym project to align with the updated requirements from the Swiss eID.
